Two VHF repeaters serving Prince George’s County, the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and surrounding communities.
The Green Mountain Repeater Association operates and maintains two VHF repeaters. Both use a 77.0 Hz PL tone and a standard −600 kHz offset. See the individual repeater details below.
Notice: The WSSC water tank that the 146.880 repeater antenna is normally mounted to the top of is undergoing rehabilitation which required the removal of all communications antennas. We were able to temporarily mount it on a mast behind the repeater shack, but it is only 15' above the ground, so the range is greatly diminished. As soon as WSSC has completed the repairs, the antenna will be placed back in its normal position, 90' above the ground. In the meantime, please use our Bladensburg, MD repeater on 146.610 MHz and/or Echo Link Node #796114.
Your radio must transmit the PL tone to access either repeater. Simply listening with a tone enabled is not sufficient.
Each site includes a repeater, Sinclair duplexer, Link Communications controller, battery or generator backup power, and a four-element vertical dipole antenna approximately 300 feet above sea level.
The original 100-watt Motorola Micor repeaters were replaced with 125-watt Motorola Quantar units to improve long-term reliability.
Both repeaters are now equipped with Echo Link for world-wide communications full time.
Here are a few pictures from our two repeater sites. For a complete set of photos of both sites and the water tank area around them, click here.
