SINCE 1971

The Five Founding Fathers

Five amateur radio operators whose vision helped establish GMRA.

The five founding fathers of the Green Mountain Repeater Association
From left to right: Murray Green, K3BEQ; Robert Anderson, W3RTA; Robert Saslaw, K3ZSB (SK); George Meng, WA3OLQ; and William Kisse, WA3GJD.

The group first met in 1971 and decided to establish the area's first 2-meter autopatch repeater on 146.610 MHz. They subsequently selected a name for the Association based on the fact that the first repeater antenna was on Murray Green's house, which was located on a hill in Cheverly, Maryland, and which they fondly called; "Green Mountain."

Pioneers in their own right.
